In a major announcement, Warner Bros. has confirmed that a new live-action Gremlins movie is in the works, set to hit theaters in November 2027. The project, titled Gremlins 3, will be the first installment in the beloved franchise in nearly three decades.
According to Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav, the studio is reviving the Gremlins franchise as part of its efforts to strengthen its theatrical movie business. The original 1984 film was a massive hit, grossing $165 million worldwide, while the 1990 sequel, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, has since gained a dedicated cult following.
Notably, the original Gremlins director, Chris Columbus, will be returning to helm the new film. Additionally, Steven Spielberg, who served as an executive producer on the first two movies, will reprise that role for Gremlins 3 under his Amblin Entertainment banner.
The announcement of Gremlins 3 comes as Warner Bros. Discovery aims to position the studio as a premier destination for creative talent. With less than two months left in 2025, the studio is currently leading both the domestic and global box office, setting the stage for the highly anticipated Gremlins sequel.
