Araki stated he is a "better filmmaker" now, using digital tools to fix issues like framing and visual effects.
The restored "Mysterious Skin" is slated for a national theatrical release in 2026, with screenings planned at notable venues like the IFC Center in New York and Vidiots in Los Angeles. International sales and a French release are also scheduled for 2026.
