Summary
- Greg James is cycling 1000km solo for Comic Relief.
- His training was fueled by TV series 'Heated Rivalry' and music.
- The challenge comes as his father recovers from a recent stroke.

Radio 1 Breakfast DJ Greg James has begun a solo 1000km tandem bike ride from Weymouth to Edinburgh to raise funds for Comic Relief. James revealed that his intensive training, which involved thousands of miles on the bike, was sustained by watching the TV series 'Heated Rivalry' and listening to Harry Styles' song 'Aperture'.
This significant challenge follows a difficult personal period for James, as his father recently suffered a stroke. The incident occurred during a planned heart operation, leaving his health in a critical state. James had to cancel his show temporarily to be with his family but has since returned to work.
Speaking about his father, James shared that he is "fighting hard" and taking small steps towards recovery. He expressed gratitude for the support he and his family have received during this trying time, particularly from the NHS. Despite the ongoing personal difficulties, James confirmed his commitment to completing the Red Nose Day challenge.
