Granger Smith's New Book Explores Faith After Loss

Granger Smith's new book, "Poison in the Well," is set to be released on September 8. The 46-year-old transitioned from country music to full-time ministry near Austin, Texas, in 2023. This upcoming book explores his profound spiritual journey and the intense questioning of his faith that followed the drowning death of his young son, River, in 2019.

His previous book, "Like a River," published in 2023, chronicled his grief and recovery. Smith explained that "Poison in the Well" details the "mechanics" of his life changes, emphasizing how faith became the foundation for his redirection. He candidly discusses grappling with doubt and the feeling of hopelessness, even as a Christian, during his darkest moments.

Having left a career in music, Smith now focuses on ministry, finding joy in helping others navigate loss and spiritual challenges. While he has stepped away from touring, he is exploring songwriting again, potentially for an album of Scripture songs, inspired by his family's daily devotional practices.
