Grammy nominee Gracie Abrams is clarifying how her relationship with actor Paul Mescal has influenced her creative process. Abrams initially expressed concerns that feeling secure and stable in her personal life might threaten her drive to write music. She revealed this worry stemmed from having "far less experience" writing when she was "filled with security and joy and love and safety."

However, Abrams found the opposite to be true, noting that her relationship has provided "the most amazing effect on my writing" by giving her space to reflect and gain perspective on various aspects of her life. Mescal has also been a collaborative force, earning a credit on her song "Imaginary Friend" from her latest album, "Daughter from Hell." Abrams praised Mescal's dedication to his role as Paul McCartney, highlighting his ability to learn bass left-handed, a skill she described as "amazing."
