24 Feb
Summary
- Govind Namdev's role in 'Saudagar' was entirely removed during editing.
- The actor was mentally scattered and devastated by the decision.
- His wife's support was crucial for him to cope with the setback.

Govind Namdev, a seasoned actor, has candidly shared his experience of career difficulty when his role in Subhash Ghai's 1991 film 'Saudagar' was ultimately deleted during the editing process.
Namdev recalled his initial excitement upon being cast in the film, which featured screen legends Dilip Kumar and Raaj Kumar. After shooting for two days, he received commendation from director Subhash Ghai in front of the entire crew, leading him to excitedly inform his friends and colleagues about his significant project.
However, post-production brought distressing news. Namdev was not called for dubbing and later learned from producer Ashok Ghai that his character was removed to shorten the film's excessive runtime, which had extended beyond 3.5 hours from an initial 4.5 hours. The decision to entirely excise his role left Namdev feeling numb and mentally shattered.
He further described the profound emotional impact, admitting, "If it wasn't for my wife, maybe I would have died." Namdev expressed the deep personal struggle of coping with the potential judgment from others, recounting frequent crying spells where he would hold his wife for solace.
Professionally, Govind Namdev was most recently seen in 'Raid 2' and the web show 'Bindiya Ke Bahubali'.
