Google and Range Media Partners have launched a significant global competition, offering $3.5 million to filmmakers focused on optimistic science fiction. This initiative, operating under the 100 Zeros banner, encourages positive narratives about the future.
Peter Diamandis of XPrize highlighted the importance of exploring optimism during times of transition. The competition aims to catalyze innovation by fostering creativity and removing barriers for storytellers.
The grand prize includes substantial production funding of $2.5 million alongside a $100,000 cash award. Range and Google will also provide production and creative tech support. Additionally, four finalists will each receive $100,000.
Filmmakers must submit a three-minute trailer or short film depicting a hopeful future. Five finalists will be invited to present their visions live at the Moonshot Gathering in Los Angeles in September.
