Veteran actress and Oscar winner Goldie Hawn is scheduled for a rare appearance on Long Island on May 4. The event will take place at the Madison Theatre at Molloy University in Rockville Centre, where Hawn will discuss her extensive film career and introduce her new children's book. The book, titled "The After-School Kindness Crew: Pooch on the Loose," is slated for release on May 5.
This debut book, intended for ages 7 to 10, is the first in a planned series. Co-written with Lin Oliver and illustrated by Breanna Chambers, it follows a group of fourth graders experiencing adventures with a loose dog and an escaped snake. The series is influenced by Hawn's own Goldie Hawn Foundation's MindUP program, which teaches children stress management and emotional resilience.
Hawn, an enduring star since the late 1960s, has a celebrated filmography including "Private Benjamin" and "The First Wives Club." Her children's books will feature "Brain Breaks," guided breathing exercises designed to help young readers pause and refocus. A second book in the series is anticipated in November 2026.
