Somner was a highly regarded first assistant director, known for his work not only with Paul Thomas Anderson but also with renowned filmmakers Steven Spielberg and Ridley Scott. His impressive filmography from the last decade includes "Blitz," "Killers of the Flower Moon," "West Side Story," "Licorice Pizza," "Ford v Ferrari," and "Ready Player One."
He succumbed to anaplastic thyroid cancer on November 27th of last year. The film "One Battle After Another" now bears a dedication to Somner in its end credits, ensuring his significant contribution to the project is remembered.
