A new series project, "Gold," has secured an invitation to the upcoming Series Mania Forum, a significant event in the European television industry. This ambitious thriller aims to expose the global gold trade, with its narrative arc stretching from Switzerland to the Persian Gulf and Africa.
The series will focus on Hannah, a Swiss gold trader whose company is on the brink of financial ruin. Faced with collapse, she turns to illicit trading, navigating a morally complex path. An accident in Africa prompts her to confront the exploitative system she has been a part of.
"Gold" is being written by a team including Christian Wehrlin, Pascal Glatz, Jessica Hagan, and Mariama Djité. Laurence Herszberg, founder of Series Mania, highlighted the project's aim to reveal the suffering behind opulent trade and explore profound moral dilemmas.
In a reciprocal gesture, the Berlinale Series Market also extended an invitation to "Antiparos," a project from Series Mania, further strengthening industry ties between the two events.
