GOAT Film's Box Office Race Against Pixar's Cars
17 Feb
Summary
- GOAT animated film earned $50.6 million globally so far.
- It needs over 7.5x its current earnings to beat Cars 3.
- The film faces a challenge to outgross the Cars trilogy.

Sony's animated sports comedy GOAT has achieved a global box office total of $50.6 million in its opening days. The film opened strongly over Valentine's Day weekend, earning $27.2 million in North America and adding another $35 million domestically by Monday. International markets have contributed $15.6 million to the worldwide sum.
Comparing GOAT's performance to Pixar's Cars trilogy reveals a significant gap. To surpass Cars 3, which earned $383.9 million worldwide, GOAT would need to more than septuple its current earnings. Overtaking the original Cars ($462 million) requires an additional $411 million, while beating Cars 2 ($559.9 million) demands $509.3 million more globally.
Despite these substantial targets, GOAT's early performance, including a strong Monday hold, indicates positive momentum. If the film maintains its legs throughout the week and gains traction internationally, it could narrow the financial distance. However, it remains to be seen if GOAT can ultimately outgross any of the films in the Cars franchise.
