Goa's IFFI Parade to Replace Traditional Inaugural Ceremony

The 2025 International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa is set to kick off with a unique and inclusive inaugural event. Instead of the traditional ceremony at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, which is unavailable due to another event, the festival will open with a vibrant parade.
The IFFI parade will showcase a variety of carnival and Shigmo floats along the route opposite the Old GMC complex, outside the festival venue. This year's procession will feature 18-20 floats from Panaji, Mapusa, and Margao, which were the winning tableaux at the Shigmo and Carnival festivals held earlier this year.
Unlike previous editions, where even delegates were often left out of the opening ceremony due to limited access, the 2025 IFFI inauguration will be open to the public. "This year will be an inclusive festival to which everyone will have access, making it a people-oriented festival," said Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) chairperson Delilah Lobo.
