The Rang Mānd theatre festival, celebrating a 15-year collaboration, will commence on March 27, 2026, and run for three days until March 29 at the Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts. This year's festival centers on the social consequences of rapid urbanisation and its effect on Goan communities.
The opening night, March 27, features 'Sindaborchi Kaani,' a Konkani play inspired by the traditional Perni Jagor ritual. Written by Vinayak Khedekar and directed by Saish Deshpande, the production uses masks and traditional elements to comment on societal priorities, particularly the loss of connection to the land as urban development progresses.
Further performances include 'Eggsistential Cracksis' on March 28, a solo multilingual performance by Asavari Gurav exploring identity and queer themes. The festival concludes on March 29 with 'AEIOQ++,' a piece by Antara Bhide and Smriti Rashmi Parhi, which delves into gender, belonging, and queer lived experiences through poetry and personal narratives.
