The historic ruins of St Augustine Church in Old Goa will resonate with music on February 27 and 28 during the Ketevan Music Festival. This cultural event, beginning at 6:30 PM each evening, is a collaboration with Georgia's Ministry of Culture and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations.
The festival opens on February 27 with a diverse program. It begins with Eastern folk music from Bengal, followed by the Georgian choir Ensemble Sathanao, showcasing traditional Georgian polyphonic singing. The evening concludes with 'Kathak Meets Jazz,' a unique fusion performance from San Francisco.
February 28 continues the musical journey with two distinct performances. Sitar maestro Imran Khan presents his original composition 'String Concerto for Peace,' blending Indian classical and Western orchestral styles. The festival culminates with fado and world music by acclaimed Goan vocalist Nadia Rebelo, celebrating Goa's multicultural heritage.
With free admission, the festival promises an enriching experience for music enthusiasts, cultural aficionados, and tourists. The diverse genres presented span folk, classical, choral, orchestral, and fusion, offering a fitting tribute to Goa's vibrant cultural tapestry.
