Series Match: Germany and Ibero-America, an event organized by Iberseries & Platino Industria and Berlinale Series Market, is launching on February 16th. This significant gathering unites German, Latin American, and Spanish producers to showcase ambitious new series projects.
The event features productions with considerable scope, including psychological thrillers and genre-driven limited series. "Assassins in Paradise" will explore themes of identity and inherited myths, while "Scorched Earth" delves into family fortunes and historical trauma.
Notable participants include Cesar Charlone and Fernando Meirelles, the "City of God" director and cinematographer, re-teaming for a project about a 1971 jailbreak. Angela Chaves, creator of the Netflix hit "Desperate Lies," and "Sissi" co-head writer Robert Krause are also presenting their works, highlighting the caliber of talent involved.
Several other projects will be presented, such as "Monika - Victory and Death," a dramatized true story of a guerrilla fighter, and "The Runaway," based on a German heavy metal guitarist's escape. "Callback" questions public shaming, and "Seven Women" reimagines a historical novel from a contemporary female perspective.
