Glasgow is set to host the 2027 Creative Cities Convention (CCC), a key event for the UK's screen and media sectors. The convention, which takes place annually in a different city, has been expanded to two full days, scheduled for May 19 and 20, 2027, at Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall. This decision follows the relocation of the TV Festival from Scotland after five decades. Screen Scotland is backing the event, aiming to showcase the nation's robust screen industry and foster new connections.
Esteemed BBC broadcaster Kirsty Wark will serve as a guest interviewer, while Mobeen Azhar returns as the host. The Creative Skills Summit, now in its third year, will also run alongside the main convention, hosted by Jameel Shariff. A central theme for the 2027 CCC will be the diminishing purchasing power of UK commissioners, prompting discussions on alternative markets. The convention was originally scheduled for Glasgow in 2020 but was postponed due to the global pandemic.
