Glasgow International Comedy Festival has launched a unique search for the city's funniest pensioner. This initiative offers individuals eligible for a bus pass the chance to participate in a free, four-week comedy course, beginning March 9 and concluding with a showcase on April 1. Both the course and showcase will be held at The Social Hub.
This program is a collaboration with Age Scotland and aims to tackle issues highlighted by their research, including chronic loneliness affecting one in ten older Scots and a lack of time for hobbies. Award-winning comedian Viv Gee, who has experience lecturing in stand-up comedy, will lead the course.
The organizers hope to celebrate older people, provide new opportunities, and foster community. Entrants can nominate themselves or be nominated by others. Applications close on February 23, with applicants notified by 5 pm on that day.
