Glambot director Cole Walliser has issued an apology for past emails that resurfaced recently, admitting they contained a dismissive and curt tone. In a January 27 Instagram video, Walliser explained that in 2019, he was overwhelmed and working without a team, but he stressed this is not an excuse for his conduct.
The controversy began when screenshots of an 11-email exchange from 2019 appeared, in which Walliser seemed to doubt a Black woman's ability to afford his Glambot service for her wedding. Walliser shared that being labeled racist has been the most difficult part of the backlash, emphasizing his mixed-Chinese heritage and personal experiences with identity issues.
Further scrutiny arose when Drag Race stars suggested Walliser and his team had been rude to them at the Emmys. Walliser acknowledged that people may have felt dismissed or treated as less than on red carpets, apologizing for any such experiences and stating his commitment to improvement.
