The beloved HBO series Girls is making a comeback with five new episodes penned by creator Lena Dunham. The original stars, Hannah (Dunham), Marnie (Allison Williams), Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet), and Jessa (Jemima Kirke), alongside Elijah (Andrew Rannells), are all set to reprise their roles.
Dunham expressed excitement, stating that the return was prompted by a compelling story she felt inspired to tell. The new episodes will pick up with the characters in their 40s, a decade after the show's sixth season finale. Production is scheduled to begin next summer.
Notably absent from the initial cast announcement are Adam Driver (Adam), Christopher Abbott (Charlie), and Alex Karpovsky (Ray). The series will bypass the characters' thirties and jump directly into their forties for this revival.
