Gilmore Girls Star Dismisses Debate Over Rory's Boyfriends

In the 25 years since Gilmore Girls first aired, fans have passionately debated which of Rory Gilmore's three main love interests was the best match for the show's protagonist. However, Scott Patterson, the actor who played Luke Danes, has now dismissed the debate entirely.

Patterson, who has been revisiting key moments from the series on his new podcast, I Am All In...Again! with Scott Patterson, says he no longer cares about "any of it." The 67-year-old actor believes Rory needs to "mature out of these experiences with these boys" and find a "completely new person" to be with.

While Patterson acknowledges that "the fans want one of the three" - referring to Dean, Jess, and Logan - he doesn't think any of them are a good fit for Rory in the long run. He explains that the relationships "weren't meant to" work out, and that Rory should have a "fresh" and "unique" experience with someone new.

As the owner of the beloved Luke's Diner, Patterson's character was a slow-burning love interest for Lorelai Gilmore, Rory's mother. He believes the best romantic heroes are those who have to "bridge a chasm" to get to the other person, rather than those who "get along right away."
