Giant Dragon Takes Flight Over Glasgow Skies

Residents of Glasgow, Scotland, recently witnessed a breathtaking sight as a massive, eight-meter-long dragon replica soared over the city. Modelled precisely after Syrax, a fan-favorite dragon from HBO's "House of the Dragon," the stunt was a unique collaboration between HBO and TNT Sports. This impressive spectacle was orchestrated to mark the commencement of the 2026 Commonwealth Games, scheduled to begin on July 23rd in Glasgow.

The hyper-realistic dragon, constructed with a carbon fibre and aluminum frame and weighing a mere 13kg, features over 20 moving parts for lifelike movement. Its creation involved detailed 3D scans from the TV series, aiming to showcase real creativity rather than relying solely on AI or CGI. This ambitious project served to bridge the realms of fantasy and sport, highlighting the return of the popular HBO series alongside the start of the Games.
