Rose McIver, known for her role as Sam in the CBS comedy Ghosts, will have a reduced presence in the initial episodes of season 6. The actress announced on Instagram that she has been "a wee bit preoccupied" with the arrival of her second child, a sibling to the couple's daughter born in 2024. She assured fans she would return to the show soon.
Showrunners for Ghosts, Joe Wiseman and Joe Port, had previously stated their intention not to write McIver's pregnancy into the series, though they remained open to the possibility of Sam and Jay having a child in future seasons. The series, which began in 2021, follows Sam and Jay as they manage a haunted country estate.
In a broader schedule update, CBS announced that Ghosts, along with Matlock and NCIS: Sydney, will now premiere in 2027. These shows will join the new series Einstein, with Matlock's timeslot being taken by Elsbeth and Cupertino. NCIS: Sydney is shifting to midseason.
