Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation have officially announced the title of their new Ghostbusters series: "Ghostbusters: Night Shift." The series is slated for a 2027 premiere on Netflix.
The reveal occurred on Ghostbusters Day, an annual celebration of the original 1984 film. Showrunners Ben Hibon and Elliott Kalan, alongside Ghost Corps executives Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan, shared the title and logo.
The new series will be set at the historic FDNY's Hook & Ladder 8 firehouse, famously used in the first two Ghostbusters films. This location grounds the new story in the franchise's iconic setting.
During the Ghostbusters Day event, Reitman and Kenan also celebrated fans for exceeding the 'Ghostbusters Give Back' initiative's fundraising target. The program raised over $500,000 in the past year, with 'Golden Trap' awards presented to chapters in Buffalo, Los Angeles, and Virginia for their efforts.
Sony Pictures, represented by Jay Levine, contributed a $150,000 matching donation to the Starlight Children's Foundation, bringing the total raised to $666,000. This significant contribution underscores the franchise's commitment to charitable causes.
Celeste O'Connor, who starred in "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" and "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire," visited Maimonides Children's Hospital in Brooklyn. Accompanied by Starlight, she distributed toys and hospital gowns to pediatric patients, spreading some Ghostbusters cheer.
Further charitable activities included the Buffalo Ghostbusters hosting a benefit auction for the FDNY Foundation. The Ghostbusters in Concert National Fall Tour also partnered with Black Ink to donate a portion of ticket sales to this cause.
