Gerber, 24, and Gere, 26, made a notable appearance on the red carpet. Gerber's mother, Cindy Crawford, and Gere's father, Richard Gere, were married from 1991 to 1995.
Gerber, portraying Susan Reynolds, described the show as a "seductive drama thriller" exploring themes of sex, identity, and obsession. Gere plays Robert Mallory, a mysterious new student whose arrival coincides with a series of murders. The series is set in 1981 Los Angeles, revolving around prep school seniors.
Developed by Murphy and author Bret Easton Ellis, 'The Shards' is inspired by Ellis's semi-autobiographical novel. The show is set to debut on August 5 on FX and Hulu, with subsequent streaming on Disney+.
Gerber shared that she had not met Gere until filming commenced but found him to be a "joy to work with." Her mother, Crawford, attended the premiere in support of Gerber's acting career.
