George Michael's 'Faith' Guitar Sells for Up to £120K

George Michael's iconic Gretsch Synchromatic 160 guitar, from the 1987 'Faith' video, is poised to be a star lot in an upcoming auction. With an estimated sale price of £60,000 to £120,000, the guitar comes from the extensive archive of Michael's late personal assistant, Siobhan Bailey. The auction, arranged by Bailey's widower, features over 30 other memorabilia items.

Bailey, who worked for Michael for over two decades, amassed a significant collection. This includes gold and platinum discs, tour programmes, and even a metal lighthouse statue from Malaga city council. Itinerary documents detailing Wham!'s historic 1985 tour of China are also among the lots, highlighting their status as the first Western act to tour the country.

The auction's timing aligns with the 10th anniversary of Michael's passing in December 2026 and a resurgence of interest in his 'Faith' period. A new film, "George Michael: The Faith Tour," is set for release on November 6, 2026, featuring rediscovered concert footage. A corresponding live album of the same name will also be released.

Further items related to Michael's 'Faith' era are appearing at separate auctions, including Ray-Ban sunglasses worn on the tour, estimated to sell for £15,000 to £30,000. The Siobhan Bailey auction will take place on October 29, 2026, accessible both online and in person at Sworders in Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex, with preview exhibitions from October 20-27, 2026.
