Rapper Jay Worthy has joined forces with funk icon George Clinton for a collaborative album, "Generation P." This 12-song project reimagines iconic Parliament-Funkadelic hits, with Worthy delivering rap verses over the original funk arrangements, enhanced by Clinton's narration. The collaboration began when Zavier Croft, Clinton's grandson, discovered Worthy's music during a tour.
Croft initiated contact with Worthy, leading to the development of "Generation P." Producer Sean House also played a key role in crafting the album, which features samples cleared for use from albums like "Uncle Jam Wants You." The project took approximately three years to complete, with a unique 16-bit video game released during its rollout.
"Generation P" bridges West Coast rap and funk lineage, boasting features from artists such as Snoop Dogg, Larry June, and YG. George Clinton expressed admiration for Worthy's work ethic, comparing it to his own early days. The album also incorporates live instrumentation from artists like Terrace Martin, who added a jazz element, and Channel Tres on keys.
