Gener8ion and Yung Lean made a memorable debut at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, September 27th, with a performance of their hit "Storm." The dynamic duo brought their visually striking "Storm" music video to life on the Peacock Theater stage in Los Angeles, closing out the night's performances.
The "Storm" visual, a collaboration between French producer Surkin (under his Gener8ion alias) and Swedish rapper Yung Lean, was helmed by director Romain Gavras and released in April. It has since achieved widespread online popularity, boasting over 26 million views.
For their VMA performance, Yung Lean adopted the persona of a bully within a British boarding school setting imagined for 2034. The act culminated in synchronized choreography from his classmates, creating a captivating hallucinatory effect, before he closed with a striking interaction with the camera.
The "Storm" short film itself garnered significant acclaim, securing four nominations: Video of the Year, Best Choreography, Best Direction, and Best Long-Form Video. Both "Storm I" and "Storm II" were featured on Gener8ion's "Love & Tears" album, released in June.
