Mumbai's iconic Gaiety-Galaxy cinema complex has temporarily suspended its screenings. While a notice from the Bandra police indicated the closure was due to a license non-renewal, theatre executive director Manoj Desai stated the shutdown stems from a technical problem. Desai clarified that burned cables within the theatre necessitated a temporary halt while replacement parts are sourced from Lohar Chawl. These repairs are expected to allow for the resumption of shows.

This development occurred just a day after Ali Fazal experienced an emotional moment at the Gaiety on September 6, 2026. The actor visited to witness the audience's reaction to 'Mirzapur: The Movie', finding the theatre packed and the audience cheering. Fazal shared his gratitude, calling it a lifetime memory and a testament to the audience's love.

Founded on November 24, 1972, by Manoj Desai, the Gaiety-Galaxy complex has been a cornerstone of Mumbai's moviegoing culture for over five decades. Initially featuring three screens, it expanded to seven, solidifying its status as a cherished landmark for film enthusiasts and a venue for cinematic celebrations.
