28 Sep
Summary
- Hulu has no plans for additional Futurama seasons.
- Creator Matt Groening believes the show can be revived.
- This marks the third cancellation for the animated series.
Hulu has indicated it does not intend to produce further seasons of the animated series Futurama, with the Season 14 finale now available for streaming. Creator Matt Groening remains hopeful for the show's future, drawing parallels to its history of previous cancellations and subsequent revivals.
Groening described a resilient attitude towards the series' potential end, stating that Futurama has faced cancellations many times before. He expressed confidence that the show could "rise again" even after its latest conclusion, hinting at a continued desire for more stories from the creative team.
This marks the third time Futurama has been canceled. The series originally aired on Fox for five seasons from 1999 to 2003. It was later revived by Comedy Central, which aired it through Season 10 before its cancellation in 2013. Hulu then revived the show for four additional seasons approximately a decade later.
