Reagan Hobbs, an alumnus of Florida State University and a Tallahassee real estate investor, has successfully purchased the longtime home of legendary coach Bobby Bowden. The Killearn Estates property sold for a final price of $737,000, which included a $670,000 winning bid plus a 10% buyer's premium. The auction, managed by Wiregrass Auction Group, saw Hobbs engaged in a competitive bidding war.
Hobbs, 52, was reportedly in a hospital with his family when the bidding intensified. His connection to Bowden, FSU football, and the property runs deep, as his family has strong ties to the legendary coach. Bowden and his wife Ann originally purchased the home in 1976 shortly after Bowden was hired at FSU. He coached the Seminoles for 34 years, leading them to two national championships before his passing in 2021 at age 91.
The future of the historic property remains undecided, but Hobbs expressed contentment in acquiring it, stating he couldn't bear the thought of someone demolishing it or selling the land. This acquisition follows a previous purchase of memorabilia from another iconic FSU figure, Burt Reynolds, showcasing Hobbs' appreciation for figures significant to Florida State's history.
