Fringe by the Sea, a festival in North Berwick, has evolved from a spin-off of the Edinburgh festivals into a prominent event.
This year's festival features nearly 300 events, launching a week ahead of the Edinburgh Fringe.
Festival director Rory Steel highlights the value of its smaller scale, allowing it to connect with the North Berwick community. This connection is evident in unique offerings like a musical commission inspired by the Bass Rock and community-driven wildflower art.
Orcadian composer Erland Cooper created the festival's first music commission, 'Sula Bassana,' celebrating gannets. Artist Naomi McIntosh contributed a "nest-like structure" for a tranquil space, complementing the artistic celebration of birdlife.
The festival's "Love of Life" program explores the human connection with nature through various creative forms.
Performances include Rianne Downey and Alex James, alongside local acts like the Bay City Rollers and comedian Emma Corbett.
Emma Corbett, daughter of Ronnie Corbett, now volunteers and performs at the festival. She initially disliked the area but grew to love it and transitioned from therapy to stand-up comedy, honed through a course with Viv Gee.
She will host the closing event, Corbett's Comedy Cabaret, before heading to the Edinburgh Fringe, showcasing the festival's support for local talent.
