Rapper French Montana, whose legal name is Karim Kharbouch, has reportedly reached a settlement to resolve a lawsuit concerning an alleged theft of a luxury watch. The suit, initiated last year by Swiss individuals Justo Obiang and Samir Gato, claimed Montana borrowed their Richard Mille RM-59-01 watch, valued at over $1 million USD, and never returned it.
According to the October filing, the plaintiffs alleged that Montana borrowed the watch in 2024 for Paris Fashion Week, promising its return within 30 days. They also claimed he offered his own diamond-encrusted Mille as collateral, which later turned out to be counterfeit. The lawsuit accused Montana of conversion, fraudulent misrepresentation, unjust enrichment, and replevin.
In a court filing on July 27, 2026, attorneys for all parties indicated that the issues leading to the case had been resolved. The settlement terms remain confidential, and the filing explicitly stated it was not an admission of liability by any party involved. The original meeting between Montana and the plaintiffs was in Geneva, Switzerland, in 2015.
