A significant portion of Freddie Mercury's musical legacy is heading to auction, with items expected to fetch upwards of £3 million. Hertfordshire-based Propstore is facilitating the sale of 82 lots from the personal collection of German producer Reinhold Mack. Mack collaborated with Queen during their influential 1980s albums.
The centerpiece of the collection is a Yamaha C3 Grand Piano, the very instrument used by Mercury to compose the iconic hit 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love.' Also included is a poignant teddy bear, a personal gift from Mercury to Mack's son, Freddie Jr., who held the special role of the Queen frontman's only godson.
The auction, slated to commence on October 1st, will also feature other cherished memorabilia. Bidders can vie for a microphone that Freddie Mercury used during his performances and sets of handwritten lyrics from his debut solo album, offering a rare glimpse into the creative process of the legendary artist.
