Frankie Muniz, widely known for his role in "Malcolm in the Middle," has addressed persistent rumors regarding significant memory loss.
During a recent podcast appearance, Muniz, 40, clarified that stories about his memory have often been "taken out of context." He explained that he simply possesses a "bad memory," rather than experiencing severe amnesia. He stated that he does not absorb many experiences due to a lifelong, fast-paced schedule involving acting and other activities.
Muniz revealed he has sustained nine concussions throughout his life. He recounted instances where his memory issues have impacted his personal life, including not recalling entire car races. He previously shared in 2017 that he has no distinct memories of filming "Malcolm in the Middle," only recalling watching the show itself. His wife, Paige Price, actively assists him by keeping detailed journals to help him remember events.
He further elaborated on how his health struggles have been misrepresented, citing an instance on "Dancing With the Stars" in 2017 where his comments were edited to suggest he had zero memory. Muniz acknowledged that while he doesn't remember everything, he is comfortable discussing his condition now, especially with his wife's support, to combat the narrative that he is unaware of his own identity.
