Fox has announced its first live-action comedy series in over two years, titled "Mammoth," scheduled for the 2027-28 season. This series order comes from Christopher Lloyd, the Emmy-winning creator of "Modern Family," and writer Danny Zuker.
The comedy centers on Coach Tony Mammoth, a high school gym teacher who was unexpectedly buried in a ski avalanche in 1983. After forty years in a frozen state, he thaws out to a world that is unrecognizable to him. Despite the significant changes, Mammoth remains committed to his 1980s lifestyle and outlook.
"Mammoth" is based on a BBC Two comedy of the same name. The US adaptation is produced by Fox Entertainment Studios, with BBC Studios Los Angeles also executive producing. This development signifies a renewed focus on live-action comedies for the network.
