Fox Cancels 'The Great North' After 5 Seasons, Ending 2025 Bubble Shows

In a move that closes the book on Fox's 2025 bubble shows, the network has confirmed that the animated comedy 'The Great North' will not be returning for a sixth season. The series, which premiered in 2021 and followed the Alaskan adventures of the Tobin family, had a respectable five-year run on the network.

The cancellation of 'The Great North' comes as part of a larger shakeup at Fox, which has also canceled or put on hold several other 2025 bubble shows, including the dramas 'Rescue: HI-Surf', 'Accused', 'Alert: Missing Persons Unit', and 'The Cleaning Lady'. Of these, only 'Accused' has been put on hold with a possibility of returning in the future.

The decision to end 'The Great North' was likely influenced by Fox's recent mega deal with Fox TV Animation, which included long-term renewals for established animated series like 'The Simpsons', 'Family Guy', and 'Bob's Burgers'. The addition of 'American Dad!' to the network's lineup, as well as the pickups of new animated shows 'Krapopolis' and 'Grimsburg', left little room for 'The Great North' to continue.

Created by Wendy Molyneux, Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, and Minty Lewis, 'The Great North' had become Fox's first animated comedy hit since the success of 'Bob's Burgers'. The series followed the Tobin family, led by single dad Beef, as they navigated the Alaskan wilderness and the dreams of their artistic daughter, Judy.
