The recent conclusion of The Four Seasons Season 2, titled 'Maratona,' has left viewers with a compelling cliffhanger, hinting at new romantic developments.
In the finale, Anne (Kerri Kenney-Silver) chooses to stay behind in Italy after her friends have departed. She soon encounters her neighbor, Gianpiero, played by David Tennant. This unexpected meeting occurs after Gianpiero receives some of Anne's mail.
Co-creator Tracey Wigfield shared that fellow creator Tina Fey had specifically suggested casting someone like David Tennant for the role of Anne's neighbor. Wigfield expressed delight that Tennant accepted the offer, noting that he filmed his scene in a single day and looked "so lovely and good with Kerri."
Wigfield further explained that Anne has been on a journey of self-improvement throughout the first two seasons, aiming to become 'Anne 2.0.' The decision to end Season 2 with a romantic cliffhanger involving a character like Gianpiero was a strategic choice to generate excitement for a potential third season.
