Fortnite Unleashes Star Wars Universe for Creators
19 Mar
Summary
- Fortnite creators can now build custom Star Wars games.
- Disney partners with Epic Games for a persistent Fortnite universe.
- Creators must share 20 percent of payouts for Star Wars content.

As of March 19, 2026, Fortnite creators have gained the ability to craft their own Star Wars-themed games and experiences within the platform. This feature, powered by the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), was launched starting Thursday, with publications becoming available on May 1st. This marks a significant expansion of the partnership between Epic Games and Disney, who announced in 2024 a $1.5 billion investment and a commitment to build a persistent universe connected to Fortnite.
This new Star Wars content allows creators to incorporate beloved characters like Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, vehicles such as X-wings and TIE fighters, and iconic weapons like lightsabers. Disney has been a supportive partner, facilitating the availability of Star Wars assets for UEFN creators. A key condition for publishing Star Wars islands is the agreement for creators to yield 20 percent of their payout share to Disney. While the broader persistent universe is still in development, this launch signifies Disney and Epic's dedication to empowering creators with their intellectual properties.
