Argentinian filmmaker Pedro Speroni is set to present his latest documentary "Talia After Talia" at the prestigious IDFA Forum in the Netherlands. The film, which is part of Speroni's acclaimed documentary trilogy, follows the story of a 27-year-old woman named Talia as she navigates the difficult path to reintegration after spending 8 years in a maximum-security prison.
Speroni's personal experiences have deeply influenced his filmmaking. As a child, he witnessed his family lose everything in a heavily publicized scandal, with his uncle being sent to prison. Years later, while studying film, Speroni gained access to a maximum-security prison, an experience that brought back vivid memories of his own family's struggles. This led him to spend two years living inside the prison to make his previous films "Rancho" and "The Bilbaos."
With "Talia After Talia," Speroni aims to complete his exploration of social justice issues. The film has secured co-production support from France's Les Films de l'œil Sauvage and Switzerland's Alva Films, who are committed to telling powerful stories driven by social causes. Speroni is now seeking additional funding to complete the film's production, which he believes will be essential in giving his protagonist a "noble voice" and telling a compelling story about her journey.
