Mythical Island Adventure: Friends' Memories at Stake

DreamWorks' new animated fantasy, Forgotten Island, plunges viewers into the enchanting world of Nakali. The story follows best friends Jo and Raissa, who discover a portal to this mythical island filled with magical creatures on their last night together. As they search for a way home, they face the threat of losing their memories and each other.

Directors Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado crafted a visually dynamic film, with the animation style adapting to reflect each character's point of view and memories. This approach offers a fresh, inventive look distinct from DreamWorks' typical house style, reminiscent of their earlier bold ventures.

The film's propulsive pacing, especially during the adventure sequences on Nakali, is designed to capture the fleeting essence of cherished youthful experiences. However, crucial moments are intentionally slowed to emphasize the emotional weight of the characters' journey and their deepening friendship.

Forgotten Island also serves as a vibrant introduction to Filipino mythology for a wider audience. While inspired by folklore, the filmmakers focused on telling a compelling story true to their vision, aided by cultural consultant Kirby Araullo. The film is set to debut digitally on October 27, 2026, followed by physical releases on December 1, 2026.
