Summary
- MiraChechu Productions partners with Películas Pendelton to produce "Sábado Sabadete"
- Series follows washed-up TV star Sabadete, a giant pink axolotl, plotting a comeback
- Project aims to bring a distinctly Spanish voice to the adult animation genre

In a bold move, MiraChechu Productions has partnered with the high-profile production company Películas Pendelton to create "Sábado Sabadete," an adult animated series that is set to make its debut at Iberseries & Platino Industria 2025. The series follows Sabadete, a giant pink axolotl who was once a beloved TV star in Spain during the 1980s, as he plots a comeback after years of being forgotten and broke.
Películas Pendelton, known for its box office hits and family-friendly productions, is venturing into the adult animation space with this project, adding significant industry heft to MiraChechu's irreverent vision. The series, which has already delivered a full bible, trailer, and pilot episode, first caught the attention of the industry at Spain's Weird Market showcase.
According to the director and creator, Alex Rey, "Sábado Sabadete" is an attempt to bring a distinctly Spanish voice to the adult animation genre, which has long been dominated by American shows like "South Park" and "Family Guy." Rey, who voices all the characters in the series, believes there is a vast audience waiting for a Spanish-produced animated series that reflects their own culture.
The partnership with Películas Pendelton, led by industry veterans Javier Fesser and Luis Manso, marks a significant leap for MiraChechu Productions, which began as Rey's one-man creative vehicle. The alliance positions "Sábado Sabadete" as a bold attempt to push adult animation with a local edge onto the global stage.
