Late Food Network personality Anne Burrell's death was ruled a suicide by the NYC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The official ruling cited acute intoxication from diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine, and amphetamine as the cause.
Paramedics arriving at her Brooklyn home on June 17 of last year pronounced Burrell dead at 8 AM. They did not administer Narcan, a medication used to reverse opioid overdoses, as she was already deceased.
Investigators found a suicide note and journal entries indicating suicidal thoughts in her home. Numerous over-the-counter medications were also discovered mixed in a bowl near her body.
