On November 20, 2025, Netflix will globally premiere Rodrigo García's latest Mexican film, 'The Follies,' following a week-long qualifying run in theaters. The movie, titled 'Las Locuras' in Spanish, centers around Renata, a woman under house arrest who is on the verge of a manic episode.
Through Renata's interactions with her family, lovers, and friends, the film takes the audience on a tour of lives unraveling under the maddening pressure of a stormy day in Mexico City. Cassandra Ciangherotti leads the ensemble cast, which also features Ilse Salas, Ángeles Cruz, Natalia Solián, Naian González Norvind, and Fernanda Castillo.
"The Follies marks my return home to work in Mexico City, and it has been an extraordinary personal and professional experience," García, who writes and directs the film, told Deadline. "I am very proud of the film and forever grateful for the unforgettable performances and the great support from Netflix Latin America."
This latest Netflix original from Latin America follows García's previous film, 'Familia,' which also premiered on the streaming platform. The director's other credits include the HBO drama 'In Treatment,' the web series 'Blue,' and the recently released 'Raymond & Ray,' which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival.
