The latest deals include a new adaptation in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, airing on MBC and spanning 23 territories, as well as a landmark first entry into Asia, where Nippon TV will bring the show to Japan.
These latest commissions follow recent expansions into Eastern Europe and strong launches across key markets such as the U.S., Australia, and France. Talpa Studios' founder, John de Mol, expressed immense pride in this achievement, stating that the format's universal appeal is evident in its global reach.
"The Floor" features a dynamic LED floor divided into 100 squares, each representing a different field of knowledge. Contestants face off in quiz duels, with the goal of conquering the entire floor and winning a substantial cash prize. The show's innovative gameplay and audience-participation elements have captivated viewers worldwide.
Megumi Hisamichi, senior manager at Nippon TV, praised the format's dynamic stage and fast-paced gameplay, noting that the company was "tremendously inspired" and immediately proposed a Japanese adaptation. Meanwhile, Samar Akrouk of MBC Group and MBC Studios expressed confidence that the show's fresh and dynamic twist on the game show genre will resonate with their audiences in the MENA region.
Talpa Studios' global distribution director, Sebastian van Barneveld, attributed the success of "The Floor" to the format's inherent strength, as well as the company's efficient hub-based production model, which enables faster collaboration with partners worldwide.
