The Museum of Moving Image in Queens will host its 15th annual First Look festival, running from April 23 to May 3, 2026. This year's event will showcase 21 features and experimental shorts, spotlighting adventurous new cinema.
The festival opens with the North American premiere of James N. Kienitz Wilkins' 'The Misconceived' and closes with Isabel Sandoval's 'Moonglow.' Special presentations include the New York premieres of 'Carousel,' 'Silent Friend,' and 'Hot Water.'
First Look 2026 will feature world premieres such as the late Ken Jacobs' final work, 'A Date with Shirley,' and 'It Goes That Quick.' The festival also highlights genre films from around the globe, including Algerian horror 'Roqia' and Thai revenge tale 'Morte Cucina.'
Further programming includes the Science on Screen series, exploring topics like bacteria and the "Peter Pan of phone hackers." All screenings are at the Museum of Moving Image in Astoria, NY, with tickets now available.
