Summary
- Animated 'Firefly' revival is still in development, says Nathan Fillion.
- The show's development is likened to developing photos by Alan Tudyk.
- Joss Whedon, creator of 'Firefly,' has given his blessing to the project.

The development of an animated revival for the sci-fi series "Firefly" is continuing, according to actor Nathan Fillion. He shared this update on July 27 during a panel at MCM Comic Con in London with former co-star Alan Tudyk.
Fillion clarified that while he's "not announcing a series, but announcing the development of the series," the process is taking longer than anticipated. Tudyk humorously likened the current stage to developing photographs, indicating they are still in the detailed review phase.
This update follows Fillion's earlier revelation in March that the revival would be animated, not live-action. Concept art was also shown, and other cast members attended the podcast taping where this was announced.
Notably, "Firefly" creator Joss Whedon is not involved in the animated revival but has reportedly given his blessing. Fillion emphasized that the show's dedicated fanbase deserves its return.
The new series aims to expand the "Firefly" universe by taking place chronologically between the original 2002 television series and the 2005 film "Serenity."
