A fire erupted on a temporary set in Mumbai's Film City on Monday, October 5, 2026, reportedly for the highly anticipated film 'Ramayana'. Thick smoke was visible, and footage of the incident went viral on social media. The Mumbai Fire Brigade confirmed a Level-I fire at 4:02 pm, which was extinguished by 4:55 pm.
The blaze was confined to electricals, wiring, wooden elements, and shooting equipment within a 100x20-foot temporary set. While the 'Ramayana' set was affected, filming for nearby productions like MTV's 'Hustle 5' and 'Pati Patni Aur Panga 2' was also disrupted. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
No injuries were reported during the incident. This event follows a recent promotional gathering for 'Ramayana' which featured stars like Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi. The film is scheduled for a two-part release, with the first part arriving this Diwali and the second in Diwali 2027.
