FF14's Evercold: New Saga, FF7 Raids & More

Final Fantasy 14 is launching a new chapter with its Evercold expansion, marking the start of the 'Godless Realms Saga.' This expansion follows the conclusion of a decade-long story and builds upon the foundations laid by Dawntrail, introducing players to a new threat and a host of system updates.

The narrative will guide players to the Fourth Reflection, a world devastated by ice, drawing inspiration from Norse mythology. A new antagonist, Ascian Halmarut, emerges with a plan for humanity's survival that involves mass destruction. This new arc promises to deepen the lore of the Ancients and explore the mystery of Ethos.

Evercold will feature extensive raid content, including an Alliance raid series titled 'Ghosts of Desire,' a collaboration with Evangelion, and an eight-player raid series, 'Beyond the Lifestream,' a crossover with Final Fantasy 7. These raids are expected to deliver unique boss encounters and immersive environments.

Significant gameplay improvements are also planned, including 'Reborn' and 'Evolved' modes for the battle system, offering players new ways to experience existing Jobs. The gear progression system will be overhauled with 'Adventurer Activity,' shifting from a daily grind to a more flexible weekly reward system, offering greater player freedom.

Final Fantasy 14: Evercold is scheduled for release in January 2027 across multiple platforms including PC, PlayStation, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
