Summary
- Amar Kaushik and Vicky Kaushal not quitting alcohol or non-veg for 'Mahavatar'
- Film based on Chiranjeevi Parashurama's life, set to start filming in 2026
- Kaushik's childhood inspiration for the film from living near Parashuram Kund

In November 2025, filmmaker Amar Kaushik and actor Vicky Kaushal have addressed the ongoing speculation around their preparation for the film 'Mahavatar'. The director has firmly dismissed reports that he and Kaushal would be abstaining from alcohol and non-vegetarian food as a sign of respect for the film's subject, Chiranjeevi Parashurama.
Kaushik explained that no such decisions have been made or announced by the film's team, urging audiences to rely only on official updates. The movie, which is currently in pre-production, is expected to commence filming in 2026 after Kaushal completes his existing projects.
Drawing from his personal experiences, Kaushik shared that the inspiration for 'Mahavatar' stems from his upbringing in Arunachal Pradesh, where he lived near the Parashuram Kund and visited it frequently as a ritual. He described the project as a "very big responsibility" in his career, as the character has been with him since childhood.
Meanwhile, Kaushik's recent horror-comedy 'Thamma' featured a star-studded cast including Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Paresh Rawal, and Sathyaraj in key roles.
