Filmmaker Nancy Meyers Pays Tribute to Longtime Friend Diane Keaton

Meyers, 75, took to Instagram to pay tribute to Keaton, describing her as a "brilliant actress" and a close friend of almost 40 years.

Meyers and Keaton worked together on several films, including the 1987 comedy "Baby Boom," the "Father of the Bride" movies in the early 1990s, and the 2003 romantic drama "Something's Gotta Give," for which Keaton received her final Oscar nomination. Meyers expressed that she felt a deep connection with Keaton, stating that she "really got" her, which made it easier to write characters for the actress.

Meyers fondly recalled Keaton's unique approach to her craft, describing how she would sometimes "spin in a kind of goofy circle before a take to purposely get herself off balance" in order to be fully present in the moment. The filmmaker also praised Keaton's ability to bring both vulnerability and humor to her roles, noting that she "went deep" in her performances and "made everything better" on set.

Meyers concluded her tribute by expressing her gratitude for the opportunity to know and work with Keaton, stating that the experience "changed [her] life." She will miss her friend and collaborator dearly.
